Hello there, Bucket Listers! With Election Day coming up on November 3, we want to make sure you know some important information to help you get ready to submit your ballot or vote in person.  If you are registered, you should have received your ballot in the mail.  If not, check your registration status and mailing address at GovoteColorado.gov.

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out the Ballot Builder tool on our website! Just enter your address to learn more about what and who you’ll be voting for this year.

1.) You can register to vote through Election Day

Haven’t registered to vote yet? No worries! Colorado allows eligible voters to register through Election Day. You can register to vote or update your information online, but if you’re registering on Election Day, you can do so in person at your nearest voter service and polling center.  Make sure to bring your ID.

2.) Know where to go

Wondering where you can drop off your ballot or vote in person? Check out the Colorado Secretary of State’s website and enter the address where you’re registered to vote to find locations close to you.

Mail ballots need to be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day, so be sure to send it out by Oct. 26 at the latest to ensure your vote is counted. If you want to play it safe, just drop it off at a nearby polling location.  And don’t forget to sign your ballot if you want your vote to count.

3.) Check the Status of Your Ballot

Once you’ve mailed in your ballot, you can keep track of it using Colorado’s BallotTrax tool. Enter your name, date of birth and your ZIP code to check the status of your ballot and even get sent notifications of where your ballot is in the election process.

For peace of mind, make sure to take a moment to check your status once you’ve mailed it to ensure your vote is being counted!

4.) Know What’s on Your Ballot

You don’t have to fill out everything on your ballot for your vote to still count, but it’s good to be informed about the candidates, measures and amendments you’re voting on.

We know the Blue Book can be overwhelming, but take some time to research your options and learn how each measure can affect your community. If you’re not sure where to start, check out our Ballot Builder tool and search online for voter guides!

5.) Check out our latest radio show for more!

Get more guidance before voting from Pearlanne Zelarney of the League of Women Voters of Denver. She was featured on our monthly KGNU broadcast where she discussed the organization’s efforts, deadlines and more resources to research candidates and ballot measures.

We hope these tips help you feel prepared and ready to submit those ballots. Make sure your voice is heard and encourage others to vote during this crucial midterm election. Happy voting, Bucket Listers!
