Overview:
Bucket List’s October radio show covers Colorado’s midterms, voter resources, Halloween events and the scares at 13th Floor.
On our October radio show, we discuss two of the scariest things: haunted houses and the Nov. 3 midterm election. This month’s Bucket List Community News radio show on KGNU, produced and hosted by me, Toni Tresca, features conversations about the state’s political landscape, practical voting information and an interview with scare actors.
The episode opens with Bucket List reporter Trinity Schermerhorn, who breaks down the state of Colorado’s Democratic and Republican parties ahead of Election Day. Her reporting focuses on the growing interest in candidates who identify as Democratic Socialists, the Republican Party’s plans to appeal to unaffiliated voters and how both parties are addressing the rising cost of living.
For listeners looking for guidance before voting, I speak with Pearlanne Zelarney of the League of Women Voters of Denver. She discusses the organization’s nonpartisan voter education efforts, resources for researching candidates and ballot measures, and important election deadlines.

The second half of the October radio show trades campaign season for spooky season.
Bucket List’s Ryland Scholes rounds up October activities, including pumpkin picking at Anderson Farms, ghost tours through Cheesman Park, Halloween-themed 5Ks and Denver’s 13th Floor Haunted House. We also highlight Mount Saint Vincent’s Trunk or Treat on Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., where Bucket List will have a table.
Finally, I speak with Bryan Koop, an area manager at 13th Floor, and a scare actor known as the Pharmacist about the surprisingly complicated art of frightening people. From improvisation and reading visitors’ body language to training performers and keeping everyone safe, they offer a behind-the-scenes look at what makes a haunted house work.
The next Bucket List Community News radio show airs Thursday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. on KGNU.
