As Bucket List Community News moves into the second week of our Spring Fling Fundraiser we want to thank those who have contributed so far to make community journalism work for you. We have just begun our campaign, and you have until May 31 to give. We have $4000 in matching grants from our friends, Kathy Neustadt, John and Mark Warren of William Blair, and Jerry Bell. Everything up to $4000 is doubled!

Why should you support us? Bucket List Community News, unlike other publications, has a dual mission. First, to provide free hyperlocal neighborly news to the Denver area. We are a trustworthy source for news, information and inspiration and our stories have impact. Here are a few of the stories our team has written that made a difference in our area:
Colorado Egg Prices: Why Have They Skyrocketed?
Tennyson Street at a Pivotal Moment of Development
DPS Holds Webinar For Families That Were Told To Self Deport (In English and Spanish)
5 Questions: Tim Ryan, Retired Journalist and News Director
Top 5 Guide: Denver’s Hole in the Wall Mexican Restaurants (In English and Spanish)
Podcast: Regan Linton Challenges Status Quo for Disabled Actors
Our second mission is to mentor the next generation of journalists and journalism entrepreneurs from three universities through internships and apprenticeships. This provides a ramp to employment in a very challenging and competitive industry. By working with Bucket List they build the skills needed to move forward in their careers and they’ve seen great success.

Noah Anderson is now a multi-skilled journalist at the Fox Affiliate in Sacramento, CA. Mimi Herrick is the morning anchor at KOTA in Rapid City, SD. Cameron Kabot is the Business and Education Reporter at the Durango Herald. London Lyle works as a reporter for Colorado Community Media. Jackie Ramirez is now working on the bilingual communications team for Adams County School District 14 and Lina Woelk is joining the team of Governor Jared Polis in constituent services.
Being reporters for Bucket List Community News has helped our team secure thousands of dollars in scholarships. Khaleigh Reed, a rising senior at CU Boulder, was just awarded a $5000 scholarship from the Colorado Association of Black Journalists.

And Daniel Montoya and PJ Guidry, who graduate from MSU this spring, were both awarded the Darrell Ewalt Scholarship for BIPOC Journalists. Each received $1500 to help them as they move into their careers.
Our Bucket List team has also won numerous awards for their work. Most recently, Cassis Tingley, Helena Fox-Mills, Daniel Montoya and Cole Bachman received Mark of Excellence Awards from the Society for Professional Journalists in its regional competition.

We are so proud of our team and how Bucket List is working to address the talent pipeline and share the stories and voices that matter to you.
But here’s the thing. We cannot do this work and make a difference without your contributions. During these times when the press is under attack, more people are putting their trust in community journalism like Bucket List Community News. We need the support of you, our neighbors. If you appreciate the work we are doing please contribute today to keep this publication going. We are so grateful for your support of community journalism.
