Happy Friday, Bucket Listers! We have all had time since the election to process our emotions and consider our options, and now we wait to see what happens next. Things are moving quickly, and it will only be a few months before decisions begin to impact our communities. In these uncertain times, Bucket List Community News and our free, hyperlocal neighborly news will ensure that our neighbors’ voices are heard and that everyone feels seen.
While we provide Bucket List at no cost, it is expensive to produce, so we ask that you support our work by making a contribution today. Our year-end fundraising campaign begins on December 3 and runs until December 31. We will tell you more next week, but please know that we need you now more than ever to continue publishing trustworthy local news for the Denver area and mentoring the next generation of aspiring journalists.
Redefining Accessibility with Roll Mobility
Exploring new spaces can be difficult for people with mobility issues because they are unsure whether they are accessible. Joe Foster, co-creator of Roll Mobility, aimed to address this issue by developing an app that allows people to rate how accessible businesses, parking lots, trails, and other public places are for those in wheelchairs. Read Ryland Scholes’ conversation with Foster to learn more about the Denver-based company and its future projects.

Nature-Inspired Interiors You’ll Love
Local interior designer Haley Matchette Flanagan strives to bring the beauty of Colorado into the homes she designs. Her designs are centered on biophilia, the belief that humans have an innate attraction to nature, and seek to emulate the beauty of the natural world by incorporating environmentally friendly materials. Our KJ Mayo delves into the philosophy that drives her firm, Haley Matchette Design, in her story, which you can read here.

Finding Love Beyond the Apps
Are you single and ready to mingle? Locals believe it may be time to ditch the apps and start joining groups to meet potential romantic partners. Cole Bachman spoke with Denverites who are currently dating to learn about the city’s hot spots, how people are finding love and to share some funny dating stories in his piece for us this week.

Darrell Ewalt Scholarship Goes To…
Congratulations to Daniel Montoya, a multimedia journalist from MSU Denver, for being awarded our Darrell Ewalt Scholarship for BIPOC journalists. Daniel is a senior majoring in journalism and minoring in Spanish who hopes to work in broadcast journalism. This scholarship is made possible by the generous contributions of Tom Walsh, Robert Thoele, and the late Phil Garvin. We are so grateful for their support to ensure more equity in our newsrooms.

Stuff We Noticed
If you have information about the man who robbed a mail carrier while delivering mail on October 31 near the 2200 block of Valentia Street around 6:30 p.m., you could be eligible for up to $150,000. The United States Postal Inspection Service is looking for details that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, who fled west on foot; the agency also shared a blurry photo of a white sedan that may have been involved in the robbery. Anyone with information should contact 303-800-8477 and mention case 4416391-ROBB.
Now that the first big snow of the season has taken place, you might be feeling a primal desire to go outside and chop down your own Christmas tree. Good news: permits are now available at many local parks and national forests. You must obtain a permit before chopping anything down, and you are responsible for knowing what areas allow cutting and which do not. For more information, visit the Bureau of Land Management’s website.
Birdseed Collective, a local nonprofit, has been providing Globeville residents with a box of fresh groceries every Monday for the past decade. Now, the organization says it urgently needs fresh food and monetary donations to continue operations in the food desert, where many residents live on fixed incomes. Despite losing a key donor and a $50,000 city grant as food costs rise, leaders are determined to keep the food pantry open, arguing that “hunger does not take a holiday.” You can donate to support the organization on its website.
As we wrap up this week’s newsletter, we invite you to help spread the word about Bucket List Community News by sharing our newsletter with friends and neighbors who value meaningful, hyperlocal news. Our goal is to keep the Denver area informed, connected and uplifted—and we can’t do it without your support. If you enjoy our commitment to free, hyperlocal neighborly news and mentorship for aspiring journalists, please make a contribution today. Your support is vital to ensuring we remain a trusted voice in the community. Until next week, stay engaged, stay neighborly and thank you for being part of our journey!
