Hi Bucket Listers!
Today, April 9, is Local News Day across the United States. It was the brainchild on John Adams at the Montana Free Press (yes, that’s really his name) who envisioned a national call to action along the lines of Earth Day or Giving Tuesday to promote local news and its importance for our communities and democracy. In no time, his spark caught fire and over 1300 newsrooms including Bucket List Community News are participating.
We’ve been telling you about our big event tonight at the Denver Press Club from 5 to 8 p.m. It’s a free open house full of food, fun, fellowship and fundraising for nine community news publications in Denver including Bucket List. There’s still time to RSVP at denverpressclub.org/events. We’ll also read a proclamation from Governor Polis declaring April 9 Local News Day in Colorado.
Today is also a great day to contribute to support local news in your community. The work Bucket List’s team of early career journalists does to inform and engage you is made possible by your generosity. We are community supported. No paywalls, no paid memberships or paid subscriptions, no advertising clutter. We continue this work because you like what we’re doing and support us. Will you contribute today?
