TGIF Bucket Listers! It’s about to get frigid out there. Bundle up for the cold snap and bring your pets indoors.
The week ahead will bring lots of changes. With a new president and new priorities incoming, the Denver area will feel the effects. The new administration promises to launch mass deportations at “light speed.” What this means for Aurora and other parts of the metro remains to be seen, but you can count on our community journalism to keep you updated.
Tough Egg to Crack
If you’ve been to the grocery store recently, then you already know that egg prices are soaring. The combination of bird flu and Colorado’s recently enacted cage-free egg law has resulted in shortages, raising the price you pay at the grocery store for a carton. Our Cassis Tingley spoke with the Department of Agriculture, the American Egg Board, local grocery store managers and customers to find out why this happened, how people are feeling and when egg prices will return to normal.

Exercising Away Addiction
Over the last several months, Bucket List has turned an eye to addiction and the struggles our neighbors are trying to overcome. With our partners at CU News Corps, we shared a couple of articles on how folks are exercising in the community to get the support they need. We also told you about Cameron Lundstrom, who is making his way back after addiction landed him in prison and about other Denverites who talked to us about the hard road to recovery. For those of you trying to get out from under this weight, we just want to let you know you are not alone and there are lots of people in the community who want to lend you a hand on your journey.

Your Guide to Bucket List’s Top 5 Guides
Have you checked out our Bucket List Top 5 Guides yet? Every Sunday morning, they arrive in the inboxes of our newsletter subscribers, detailing the best, most affordable spots in Mile High City for food, family-friendly activities and fun. You can find the archive on our website. Each guide is expertly curated by a member of our team and features places you won’t see anywhere else. This week our Daianee Galindo has her top 5 picks for hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants with authentic food like grandma makes.

The Coworker From Hell
In part two of our new series, “Views from the Denver Valet,” PJ Guidry discusses navigating a rocky relationship with a fellow valet. The story follows Guidry’s real-life encounter with a man whose alleged life story combined elements of “Harry Potter,” “Rocky” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” and who was determined to get him fired. Guirdy recounts the bizarre incidents that occurred in a deeply engaging personal narrative set at one of downtown’s busiest valet stands.

Finally, we want to do a shout-out today to our former apprentice, Noah Anderson. The CU Boulder alum was a reporter, video producer and podcaster for Bucket List. In 2023, he moved on to KREX in Grand Junction as a multimedia journalist and just this week he accepted a job at Fox40 in Sacramento. This is a huge jump and we’re very proud of him. Yay, Noah!

That’s it for this week. We’ve been hard at work getting the new team up to speed so we’ll have lots more for you next week. If you like our stories, our guides and our podcasts please consider making a contribution to community journalism. Have a great weekend and stay warm!
Warmest Regards,
