Feeling a bit peckish but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg?
Yeah, me too. Eating out has gotten really expensive, especially at some of the big chain restaurants. Luckily, the Denver metro area is full of spots serving delicious meals that won’t break the bank.
We’ve rounded up our favorite affordable eats. From comfort food that will remind you of home to places you would’ve never thought of going before, you can satisfy your cravings at these restaurants and support a local business at the same time!
1.) Pete’s Kitchen
Pete’s Kitchen is a family-owned and operated spot that has served amazing home-cooked meals for decades. Serving traditional and American-Greek food, the restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner so you can stop by for every meal. They also do private parties and even cater your special events.
The best part, they’re open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday nights, which is perfect after a late night out! I personally want to try their Philly cheesesteak, but with so many choices you really can’t go wrong with anything. But don’t just take our word for it, this restaurant has also been featured in 9 News, Westword and Denver ABC.

2.) Redeemer Pizza
Sitting in the heart of Denver, Redeemer Pizza is said to be the best New York slice in the city. Not only do they have incredible flavor combinations, but the prices are also just as surprising. A New York Cheese is just $3.50, while a pepperoni slice is only $4.50.
Redeemer’s also serves beer, cocktails and desserts if you want to stick around for a full meal. Also, if you head down 27th, you’ll spot an illuminated pizza sign and there you will find their popular pizza window!
Redeemer Pizza, 2705 Larimer St., Denver. HOURS: Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
3.) Birds Nest
Growing up in Aurora, I was very lucky to be surrounded by some of the best restaurants. One of my favorites, hands down, has to be Birds Nest. They serve classic Chinese cuisine, are very generous with their portions and have amazing prices.
They have a variety of proteins, sides, soups and other appetizers, but I usually go for their fried rice, sesame chicken with a nice warm cup of egg drop soup. Their One Spoon Price menu doesn’t go above $5! You definitely need to go check this place out and be prepared for it to become one of your new favorite spots.

4.) Butcher Block Cafe
Stop by one of Denver’s best diners that has been open for nearly 50 years. Butcher Block Cafe opened in 1979, taking inspiration from the small hometown diners the owners grew up loving in North Dakota. Since then, they have opened up two other locations in the Denver area.
The menu keeps things simple with all the classic favorites, from fluffy pancakes and omelets to burgers and sandwiches. If you go, make sure to try their popular homemade cinnamon rolls that are served until close.
Butcher Block Cafe, 1701 38th Street, Denver. HOURS: Monday to Saturday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. there is also a location on Washington Street and one in Commerce City.
5.) My Brother’s Bar
Last but not least is My Brother’s Bar, the oldest bar in Denver that has been around for over 150 years! This bar looks is the perfect place to grab a bite.
The inside seems super cozy and welcoming, but if you’re visiting in the summer, head straight to the patio. There’s nothing better than enjoying a cold beer, a burger and taking in the fresh air after a long day.

Good food doesn’t have to be expensive! Whether you’re craving a burger or some breakfast, these spots in and around Denver are to die for and you won’t empty your wallet.
