Overview:

In an expected victory, Colorado politician John Hickenlooper won his election to represent the state as our senator.

One of the first races the Associated Press called in Colorado was for the United States Senate. In an unsurprising turn of events, John Hickenlooper, the Democratic incumbent, was reelected as Colorado’s senator, easily defeating his Republican challenger, Mark Baisley.

The results came in almost instantly after the 7 p.m. voting deadline on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and have held steady. As of 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, Hickenlooper had secured 60.2% of votes while Baisley had 35.6%.

Colorado is currently ranked 47th in the country in terms of affordability, and Hickenlooper’s victory was accompanied by promises to improve the situation by lowering healthcare costs as well as addressing climate change and supporting small businesses.
