Happy Tuesday, Bucket Listers! It’s officially autumn, the leaves are about to start changing and now that it’s almost October, it’s just about time to start getting ready for spooky season.

We’ve gathered up the best places to visit in Colorado when you want to get in the Halloween spirit. Whether you’re looking for something family-friendly or you want a good scare, we’ve got you covered for a fun night out.

1.) Go on a ghost tour

The Denver metro area is full of haunted buildings and attractions that you don’t have to brave by yourself. The Dark Side of Denver Ghost Tours offers plenty of tours at different price points.

If you’re looking for something more family-friendly, you can book a tour of Denver’s most historic buildings in the LoDo neighborhood, including Union Station. For those looking for a scarier experience, the Paranormal Investigations and the Spirits and Speakeasies tour are both 21-plus.

2.) Ghosts in the Gardens

If you want to go on an adventure that’s a little more self-guided, stop by the Denver Botanic Gardens and venture through the site after hours. The tour itself takes about an hour and a half and is recommended for ages 12 and older.

Learn more about the scary history of the gardens and hear directly from the staff about their ghostly encounters that can’t be explained. Purchase your tickets today!

3.) Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns

Light displays and shows aren’t exclusive to December! Check out the Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns experience at The Hudson Gardens in Denver. Walk through a trail of glowing hand-carved pumpkins and awesome lights.

This attraction is fun for all ages and you can also enjoy unique photo opportunities, s’mores stations and crafted cocktails for adults.

4.) Terror in the Corn

For a real scare, visit Terror in the Corn in Erie, just 30 minutes away from Denver. This is one of Colorado’s top-rated haunted attractions.

The corn maze is about a mile long and some parts have rough outdoor terrain, so be ready for a good time! It’s located at Anderson Farms, and your ticket also includes entry to the Fall Festival, so you can enjoy a full day of fun before you even enter the maze.

5.) Nick’s Garden Center & Farm Market

Swing by Nick’s Fall Fest in Aurora, which has free entry every single day. You can enjoy a straw maze, story time for the kiddos and other games all for free! They also have add-ons that you can pay for, like go-karts, mini golf and my favorite, a tractor ride through the tunnel of terror.

Once you’re done with all the games, you can browse around the garden center and leave with some pumpkins to carve at home!

Whether you’re looking for a good scare or something fun for the whole family to enjoy, there are plenty of ways to get ready for the Halloween season in the Denver metro area. Grab your friends and family and make the most of October!

One more thing! Our friends over at Mount Saint Vincent will be hosting a trunk-or-treat event on Friday, Oct. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 4159 Lowell Blvd in Denver. Some of us at Bucket List Community News will be there, so be sure to stop by and say hello.
